DESCRIPTION:The Cambridge Big Data SRI and the Cambridge Trust & Technolog
 y Initiative are pleased to announce an event on exploring the prospects f
 or personal data stores as an approach to data protection and user privacy
  online on July 24th at the Maxwell Centre.\n\nPersonal data stores are a 
 novel approach to control of online privacy which allow individuals to sto
 re their personal data in their own repository. Individuals can choose whi
 ch apps\, services\, and devices have access\, giving them a central point
  of control over their data and offering a potential solution to some of t
 he privacy and data protection problems raised by new technologies.\n\nThi
 s event will take the form of a moderated panel discussion\, featuring rep
 resentatives from personal data stores being developed at Cambridge and el
 sewhere\, discussing their take on personal data stores and the difference
 s between each approach\, as well as a more critical perspective and audie
 nce questions.\n\nThe panel will consist of\n\n    Jonathan Holtby – Com
 munity Manager\, HATDex (Hub of All Things)\n    Richard Mortier – Datab
 ox and Department of Computer Science and Technology\, University of Cambr
 idge\n    Heleen Janssen – Department of Computer Science and Technology
 \, University of Cambridge. Former advisor to the Dutch government on data
  protection and privacy.\n\n    Moderator: Jennifer Cobbe – Cambridge Tr
 ust & Technology Initiative\n\n \nLunch will be provided from 12pm\, with 
 the panel discussion beginning at 1pm. The event is scheduled to end at 2.
 30pm.\n\nRegistration\nThere is no registration fee to attend this event\,
  however\, registration before the deadline on Tuesday 17th July 2018 is E
