DESCRIPTION:Thomas Hobbes’ large book\, the ‘Leviathan’\, is arguabl
y the original and most influential analysis of political theory in modern
Western history. His discussion of the ‘social contract’\, by which w
e all (mostly) get along and – for example – the lights work when we s
witch them on\, should be required reading for anyone interested in politi
cal discussions today. I present an account for Engineers. Also\, the Levi
athan discusses more than just politics\, and I’ll talk about some highl
ights such as Hobbes theory of memory and imagination.
