DESCRIPTION:I will show you my answer to one of the fundamental questions
-- \nwhy do we have three families of quarks and leptons? It is based on a
supersymmetric nonlinear sigma model\, which strongly indicates that the
quarks and leptons are composite bound states of some E_7 preons. I will a
lso discuss a possible connection to N=8 supergravity.
