 nt and the United Nations\, to discuss _National and International Environ
 mental Policy and Climate Change_.\n\nAs ever\, *wine and entry are FREE*.
 \n\nFriday 7th March at 19:30\n\nErasmus Room\, Queens' College\n\nSir Mar
 tin graduated with degrees in zoology and botany from Queens' College\, Ca
 mbridge in 1952. After completing his PhD in insect physiology\, he began 
 a period of research on the ecology and biogeography of Antarctic and Sub-
 Antarctic regions. Martin then entered the UK Central Government\, becomin
 g Director of the Central Unit on Environmental Pollution and Chief Scient
 ist in the Departments of the Environment and Transport. He led numerous U
 K delegations to international environmental meetings and served as the Pr
 esident of the Governing Council of the UN Environment Programme. He has b
 een an important co-ordinator of national action to combat environmental p
 ollution\, through his roles namely as co-Chairman of the Intergovernmenta
 l Panel on Forests\, as Director General of the World Conservation Union a
 nd extensive work with the United Nations.\n\nWith such a vast wealth of e
 xperience\, Sir Martin's talk promises to be truly fascinating to anyone i
 nterested in the national and international responses to climate change an
 d general environmental policy.
