DESCRIPTION:Skills: Keeping your data and communications private\, Alastai
r Beresford and Brian Jones\n\nThis skills talk will describe some of the
common ways in which your privacy can be compromised today and discuss som
e of the practical defence strategies you can take to keep your data and c
ommunications private. We will also report on the recent delivery of priva
te browser data by BT\, Virgin Media and TalkTalk to an advertising broker
.\n\nResearch: Radio Propagation Modelling for Wireless Sensor Network Dep
loyments\, Yan Wu\n\nTo effectively deploy wireless sensor networks (WSNs)
for monitoring and assessing the condition of tunnels\, a Propagation Pat
h Loss (PL) Model\, which describes the power loss versus distance\, is re
quired. For most of the existing propagation measurements conducted in tun
nels\, the antennas have been positioned along the central axis of a tunne
 l. However this is not representative of most infrastructure monitoring ap
plications where the wireless sensor nodes will be mounted on the walls of
the tunnel. The following work has been carried out during our investigat
 ions:\n\n- Field Measurements in Aldwych Tunnel\n- Close-t
o-Wall Antenna Deployment Discussion\n- 2D FDTD Segmented FDTD Met
 hod Proposal\n \n
