DESCRIPTION:I will review the relevance of the lightest scalar mesons in o
 ur understanding of Hadron sepctroscopy. In particular why their non-quark
 -antiquark nature and even their existence have been under strong debate f
 or over 60 years.\nI will explain how this debate has been settled in the 
 last few years by means of new data\, effective theories and dispersive ap
 proaches and I will discuss the remaining open questions in this topic.
