DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, we discuss the relevance of DNG media to near-f
ield microscopy. We introduced a novel mathematical model for the probe-ta
rget interaction and present a probe sensitivity definition. We show that
by introducing a DNG medium between the probe and the target\, not only wo
uld the evanescent energy interrogating the target increases\, but more im
portantly\, the probe sensitivity is increased. We demonstrate the potenti
al for the DNG to increase the probe sensitivity by introducing several nu
merical experiments for different targets embedded inside a host medium. F
inally\, we show that the DNG increases the sensitivity of the probe up to
a specific limit that depends on medium parameters.
