DESCRIPTION:What is drag? How is drag perceived today? What is the relatio
 n of music to drag? How can we analyse concepts of gender over time? Can w
 e discuss our concepts of gender within the context of other cultures?\n\n
 Philiminality Cambridge is honoured to have Jacob Mallinson Bird (Dinah Lu
 x) and Alistair Hyde to speak on different aspects of drag today. Both spe
 akers will present\, followed by a Q&A. \n\nJacob Mallinson Bird (Dinah Lu
 x) is an academic\, drag queen\, and model. He is currently a DPhil candid
 ate in Music at the University of Oxford\, researching drag lip-sync perfo
 rmance\, having completed his undergraduate in Cambridge. When not in the 
 world of high-academia\, he has a successful modelling career in and out o
 f drag\, having worked in Tokyo\, London\, and New York.\n\nAlistair Hyde 
 is a final year sociology student at the University of Cambridge. He is th
 e president of CUSU LGBT+ and currently completing his dissertation on con
 temporary LGBT+ reactions to drag. When he's not immersing himself in soci
 al theory\, you can find him singing in the Downing choir\, or Co-Chairing
  of the Cambridge Universities Labour Club.
