DESCRIPTION:This seminar will provide an overview of the development of a
new constitutive model - HARM - aimed at capturing accumulated permanent d
eformation caused by repeated cyclic loads on a mechanical system.\n\nThe
model itself has beed developed in general terms of "stress" and "strain"
and could have a wide range of applicability. However\, the initial motiva
tion for this model development came from the analysis of monopile foundat
ions for offshore wind turbines under lateral loading.\n\nAs a result\, th
e seminar will cover:\n(i) The development steps of the model\, and how it
relates to monopile behaviour under cyclic loading\n(ii) A brief descript
ion of how the model could be used in industrial practice\n\nThe talk will
also demonstrate how important accurate prediction of the monotonic behav
iour is for cyclic behaviour. It will hence briefly present recent advance
s in modelling of monotonic loading for monopile foundations (the PISA(2)
 project).\n\nhttp://www.eng.cam.ac.uk/profiles/cna24
