SUMMARY:Quantum Dynamics of Systems Under Repeated Observation - Juerg Fro
 ehlich (ETH Zurich)

DESCRIPTION:After a short introduction to some of the conundrums afflictin
g Quantum\nMechanics\, we study the effective quantum dynamics of systems\
ninteracting with a long chain of independent probes\, which\, afterwards
\,\nare subject to direct (projective) measurements and are then lost. Thi
s\nleads us to develop a theory of indirect measurements of\ntime-independ
 ent quantities\, so-called non-demolition measurements.\nSubsequently\, th
e theory of indirect weak measurements of time-dependent\nquantities is ou
tlined\, with emphasis on the description of Markov\nprocesses whose state
spaces are spectra of quantities to be measured.
