DESCRIPTION:The emerging Internet of Things (IoT) introduces a concept of
ubiquitous interconnected devices\, where any device anywhere across the w
orld can be connected over wired and wireless computing networks to accept
\, collect\, and exchange data. Regarding music\, many musicians still val
ue the unique characteristics and sounds obtained from physical audio hard
ware\, and some audiophiles feel that digital production techniques do not
accurately reproduce the subtle intricacies of natural sounds. IoT presen
ts new opportunities to maintain traditional (and perhaps lost or disappea
ring) music production processes through enabling remote connectivity and
engagement with rare\, expensive\, and bespoke audio systems\, as well as
unique spaces for use in reverb and echo applications. Furthermore\, this
research investigates how IoT can enhance musical collaboration opportunit
ies and empower new production workflows achieved through virtually-extend
 ed music studios.
