DESCRIPTION:Come to the Winstanley Lecture Theatre on 29th November at 6 p
 m to hear from Prof Michael Green\, the former Lucasian Professor of Mathe
 matics (2009-2015)! The talk will be a non-technical overview of the evolu
 tion of the modern physics\, from special relativity and quantum theory to
  quantum field theory and string theory. These recent developments have po
 tential applications to different areas of physics from what they were ori
 ginally intended for.\n\nThe entry is free\, and the refreshments are prov
 ided! The talk starts at 18:15 with doors open from 18:00. To find the ven
 ue\, follow the signs upon entering the door opposite to the Great Gate or
  ask the porters.
