DESCRIPTION:In the birational geometry\, the class of log canonical (lc\, 
 for short) pairs is a very\nimportant framework and a lot of results in th
 e field of the minimal model theory are proved by using\nthis class.\nIn t
 his talk\, we will introduce an extention of log canonical pairs to arbitr
 ary pairs of a normal\nvariety and a divisor on it\, which we call pseudo-
 lc pair in this talk.\nWe will explain that all pseudo-lc pairs have small
  log canonical modifications and that some results on\npseudo-lc pairs can
  be reduced to the log canonical case.\nWe also introduce a model called l
 og canonicalization\, and give applications of the model.\n
