DESCRIPTION:This is a fen recreation project\, similar to the expansion of
  Wicken Fen and planned for the same reasons. Small wetland SSSIs are unsu
 stainable in the middle of arable fields. The rich peat soils of surroundi
 ng fars are becoming worked out\, and this area needs water storage areas 
 which serve as flood defences.\nLarge wildlife areas provide areas for wal
 king and nature study\, while creating work in management of the reserve a
 nd the provision of services for tourism.
LOCATION:The Gilmour Building \, C U Botanic Garden. The entrance is via t
 he drive next to 47 Bateman Street\, St Mary's Sixth Form College\, NOT th
 rough the main gate.
