DESCRIPTION:I will introduce a variational description of perturbations of
  Gaussian measures. In the case of the $\\Phi^4_3$ measure I will explain 
 how to use the variational formula to prove ultraviolet stability in finit
 e volume and discuss the possibility of an explicit formula for the Laplac
 e transform of the measure after UV cutoff removal.  I will describe how t
 he control problem is (heuristically\, at the moment) linked with Wilson&r
 squo\;s flow equation for the effective potential.  This talk is based on 
 joint work with N. Barashkov (Bonn).
