DESCRIPTION:The joint NanoDTC-Impulse-Maxwell Innovation Seminar Series ha
 s a series of brilliant speakers who are at different stages in their Inno
 vation and Entrepreneurship journey. Our next speaker Dr Alex Shard will b
 e speaking to us about 'Argon cluster ion analysis of functional organic m
 aterials: a case study of how measurement and standardisation turns innova
 tion into impact'.\nAlex Shard obtained his PhD in surface modification an
 d analysis from Durham University in 1992 and has been active in surface c
 hemical analysis since then\, working at the University of Nottingham and 
 Daresbury Laboratory\, and then as a lecturer at the Robert Gordon Univers
 ity and senior lecturer at the University of Sheffield. He joined NPL in 2
 006 and is now a Principal Research Scientist and Knowledge Leader for the
  Analytical Sciences Division. Alex has over 100 peer-reviewed publication
 s and he regularly presents at national and international conferences. Ale
 x is chair of the British Vacuum Council\, and is on the organising commit
 tee of the UK Surface Analysis Forum and co-chair of the 21st Internationa
 l SIMS conference\, which will be held in Krakow in 2017. Alex is a Fellow
