DESCRIPTION:The solution of the laws of nature known as "the universe" dis
plays an astonishing simplicity. The story of everything we have ever obse
rved on cosmological distances\, from atoms to light\, from Dark forms of
energy to spacetime itself\, can be reduced in a precise and predictive wa
y to a single function of space: the primordial perturbation. At the quant
um mechanical level\, this perturbation is the initial wave function of th
e universe and appears to be described by simply two numbers. After critic
ally reviewing how inflation attempts to accounts for this remarkable fact
\, I will present new predictions that will challenge or confirm our curre
nt standard cosmological model in the next generations of cosmological obs
ervations. In particular\, I will discuss cosmological soft theorems\, the
related adiabatic modes and the emergence of a new hierarchy in physics.
