DESCRIPTION:*The Cambridge University Energy Network (CUEN)* is delighted 
 to host the renowned\nlecturer *Dr. Jim Platts*\, as part of our lecture s
 eries.\n\nIn this seminar we will show how wind energy technology is devel
 oping and illustrate\nthe ethos underlying the industry's concern for envi
 ronmental\, economic and social\nsustainability.\n\nIn the 1980s Dr. Platt
 s created the *designs*\, the *manufacturing technology* and the\n*company
 * that manufactures all the large wind turbine blades produced in the\nUK.
  He is now substantially involved in helping develop the wind energy indus
 try in\nChina and he is based at the University of Cambridge Institute for
  Manufacturing.\n\n"Britain is no longer a manufacturing nation\, so few p
 eople in the UK appreciate the\nsize of the wind energy industry globally\
 , nor do they understand the key elements\nof the technology\, what makes 
 it sustainable and what is afoot to further improve its\nsustainability."\
