DESCRIPTION:Blockchains enable financial exchange and collective agreement
s between many participants that are immutable and independent of a centra
l authority. These “trustless” protocols can be used as a platform for
building a digital economy for autonomous agents. Fully autonomous system
s have the potential to deliver great economic and social benefits in many
market sectors\, including energy\, transport and financial services. We
present an introduction to the fundamentals of blockchains and an interpre
tation of these technologies as multi-agent systems. The processing nodes
or agents can be viewed as vertices in a peer-to-peer network.
