DESCRIPTION:The fate of baryons in a galaxy is governed by the complex int
erplay\nbetween gas entering the galaxy through mergers and accretion flow
s\,\nstar formation within the galaxy\, and gas outflowing from the galaxy
.\nAll gas phases and dust are participating in this cosmic ballet. This\n
presentation will focus on the impact of starburst- and quasar-driven\nout
flows on galaxy evolution. The results from recent multi-wavelength\nsurve
ys of gas and dust flows out of nearby galaxies will be reviewed\nand inte
rpreted in the context of these galaxies' ecosystems. New\nconstraints on
the circumgalactic medium in distant galaxies will also\nbe presented to c
onstrain the impact of starburst- and AGN-driven\nprocesses in the past. T
his presentation will conclude with a\ndiscussion of some of the open issu
es and promising new avenues of\nresearch to address them.\n
