DESCRIPTION:Friedman and Kawamata-Namikawa studied smoothability of normal
  crossing\nCalabi-Yau varieties. I present the proof of a very general smo
 othing result\nthat also works for toroidal crossing spaces and therefore 
 also generalizes\nwork by Gross and Siebert. The key technologies are the 
 construction of log\nstructures\, a proof of a degeneration of the log Hod
 ge to de Rham spectral\nsequence as well as L-infinity-methods. This is a 
 joint project with Simon\nFelten and Matej Filip.
