DESCRIPTION:This seminar reviews the social science research process.  It 
 gives particular focus to the use and analysis of qualitative methods usin
 g example research problems which might be encountered in engineering.  I 
 discuss how to select qualitative research methods which are appropriate t
 o particular circumstances.  While there are a number of good books which 
 explain methods and approaches in social research\, this seminar will disc
 uss the best ways to analyse the resulting data\, a topic which is less we
 ll covered in the literature.
