DESCRIPTION:This talk will discuss Malia’s PhD research on “change imp
 act analysis” or how engineers scope the impact of design modifications.
   The results from two empirical case studies (using a grounded-theory inf
 ormed approach) will be presented along with the use of system dynamics mo
 delling\, offering an example of how these different approaches can be com
 bined and implemented.  This research uses these methods to elicit strateg
 ies to improve impact analysis and analyse the consequences of these strat
 egies on design projects.
