DESCRIPTION:\nPlanet formation works with the limited supply of dust and g
as in disks\, and as such they are key inputs and quality metrics for plan
et formation and disk evolution models. They are also critical to understa
nding the chemical evolution of protoplanetary material and thus the compo
sition of planets. Measuring the disk-integrated or radially resolved mass
of the gas and dust is a long-running challenge in disk studies\, especia
lly for the gas. I will highlight key past results and some ongoing work l
eading to increasingly robust measurements of these quantities\, and provi
de an outlook for the future.\n
