DESCRIPTION:In the middle of the 1880s\, the Northern parts of the Indochi
 nese Peninsula became the theatre of a double colonial conquest – of the
  French in Annam-Tonkin and of the British in Upper Burma. Based on a book
  published in September 2018\, the talk will offer a history of imperial m
 argins in Southeast Asia while comparing the British and French geographic
 al policies and practices.
