DESCRIPTION:I plan to explore how mathematics\, both pure and applied\, ha
 s interacted with computation from the 1970s to the present day.  I'll ill
 ustrate with some of my own experiences from student days through to advis
 ing government on post-quantum cryptography\, and how my research related 
 to (but did not solve) three of the notorious Clay Millennium Problems.
