DESCRIPTION:The Earth System is one of the most complex entities in the un
iverse\, driven and stabilized by millions of interacting forces. The sudd
en anthropogenic re-oxidization of global carbon resources created by long
-term geological processes is a major disruption of the planetary machiner
 y. What is the character of this disruption? What are the highly nonlinear
impacts on nature and civliation if the intervention goes on? What transf
ormative political\, economic and social action is needed to avoid a clima
te disaster? \n\nWhatever we do or don’t do\, the world as we know it wi
ll soon cease to exist. Join us in a talk with Professor John Schellnhuber
!\n\nProfessor Hans Joachim Schellnhuber is Director Emeritus of the Potsd
am Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and founded the institute i
n 1992. He is Professor for Theoretical Physics at the University of Potsd
am\, Senior Research Fellow at the Stockholm Resilience Centre\, and Membe
r of the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU).\n\nFree wine\, b
eer\, soft drinks and vegan food will be provided - with a great opportuni
ty for networking after the talk. \n\nPlease follow this link to get your
