DESCRIPTION:\n\nThis talk will introduce the topic of the digital divide i
 n developing\ncountries and will discuss various digital inclusion project
 s aimed at\naddressing the issue. The Digital Divide is a term that refers
  to\ninequalities in access to communications and information technologies
 \,\nespecially among the poor of the developing world. Topics will include
 \ntelecentres\, e-government services and mobile telephony. Examples will 
 be\ngiven from a range of countries including India\, Brazil\, South Afric
 a\,\nKenya and Bangladesh.\n\nThis talk will be chiefly led by Prof. Geoff
  Walsham\, yet other students\nfrom other Commonwealth Countries will be p
 resent to talk about their\npersonal views on this contentious issue.\n\nT
 his session is the 2nd of a focus group seminar series of topical issues\n
 in Commonwealth countries\, which provides you the invaluable opportunity 
 to\nparticipate in small group discussions and ask the speakers any questi
 ons\nyou may have about the topic of interest. You are also\, of course\, 
 welcome\nto simply come along and listen to the discussions! However\, the
