DESCRIPTION:A recent global Delphi study about the future of knowledge man
agement identified the integration of knowledge management (KM) into busin
ess processes as one of the most pressing as well as the most promising pr
actical and theoretical tasks in KM. The integration of KM activities into
the daily business processes is supported by the GPO-WM-Method (German: G
eschäftProzess-Orientiertes WissensManagement / English: Business Process
Oriented Knowledge Management). This approach is based on extensive empir
ical research and combines the template-based GPO-WM-Process Analysis with
the electronic GPO-WM-Solution Base to support the design of KM solutions
. The template-based\, participative approach is easy to learn\, creates a
wareness about the handling of knowledge\, makes used tools and instrument
s for knowledge handling explicit\, identifies strength and weaknesses reg
arding a systematic handling of knowledge\, defines the need for action an
d uses improvement ideas made by the process owner and employees for the j
oint work out of solutions. The GPO-WM-Solution Database comprises around
100 methods and tools and helps to search for new ideas and solutions. GPO
-WM-method has been developed and applied within several KM projects in in
dustry\, medium-sized IT companies\, and public administration and researc
h organizations. Some basic elements of the GPO-WM-Framework have been rec
ognized within the „European Knowledge Management Framework“(CWA 14924
\, CEN 2004).\n\n \n\nThe presentation is divided into three sections: fir
st a brief description of the requirements\, state-of-the-art and the deve
lopment of the tool will be given\, followed by a practical application of
the analysis tool and finished with a brief look at the solution database
