DESCRIPTION:Every day\, thousands of people around the world are migrating
from rural areas to cities in search of a better livelihood. Productive u
ses of energy (PUE) and its integration with other rural sectors are cruci
al for realising the economic potential of villages and regions (by creati
ng employment and economic opportunities). Despite this\, PUE is not a giv
en in off-grid rural electrification developments. One reason for this is
the lack of policy to foster PUE. In this seminar\, the limits of energy p
olicy to enhance PUE are explored and potential solutions are discussed.
