ul tool for protein and small molecule structure determination - Dr Abhay

DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will show how we can use electron cryo-microsco
pe (CryoEM) to collect electron diffraction from micro- and nano-crystals
yielding high-resolution protein structures in a quick and easy way with M
icroED method. MicroED can bypass the hurdles of crystal size and radiatio
n damage allowing for the use of extremely small crystals for protein and
small molecule structure determination at atomic resolution. \nMicroED als
o gives researchers the opportunity to characterize newly synthesized comp
ounds “on the fly\,” meaning they can gather important details about a
sample throughout its creation\, potentially guiding the chemical develop
ment process. This is an exciting time for electron crystallographers and
those who would like to use micro and nanocrystals. There is much work to
be done improving and optimizing this technique\, however\, we are current
ly working on testing and automating the workflow to make microED fast and
easy\, and easily accessible to all users.\n
