DESCRIPTION:This year’s lecture\, entitled 'Is the Milky Way Special?' i
s to be given by Professor Chris Lintott\, an astrophysicist at the Univer
sity of Oxford\n\nWe are on the verge of finally getting to know our celes
tial neighborhood. With new missions mapping our surroundings in unprecede
nted detail\, this is an excellent time to ask whether there’s anything
notable about our home galaxy. In this talk\, Chris Lintott will draw on c
utting-edge research and results from his own Galaxy Zoo project to compar
e the Milky Way to the other galaxies which surround us\, and ask whether
we’re living in a special time in its history. The talk will also includ
e at least one picture of penguins\, and explain how astronomers need your
  help to explore the Universe.
