ral Flood Management? - Charlie Ferguson\, FIBE

DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, catchment-wide approaches for mitigating flo
od risk have become increasingly common throughout the UK. One such approa
ch is to use Natural Flood Management interventions (tree planting\, moor
restoration\, woody-debris dams etc.) to 'slow the flow'. Local stakeholde
rs (often in groups such as Catchment Management Partnerships) now play a
strong role in designing NFM\, but face multiple challenges. This seminar
will discuss these challenges to provide context for a novel coupled model
ling methodology. Some initial results will also be presented to evaluate
the ability of NFM to desynchronise river tributary responses.
