DESCRIPTION:Parton shower algorithms simulate the production of large numb
 ers of gluons and quarks in high energy collisions. They are essential in 
 much of collider physics\, as a key component of general Monte Carlo event
  generators. This talk sets out an approach for assessing the logarithmic 
 accuracy of parton-shower algorithms based on two broad criteria: their ab
 ility to reproduce the singularity structure of multi-parton matrix elemen
 ts\, and their ability to reproduce logarithmic resummation results. The a
 pproach is illustrated by considering properties of two transverse momentu
