DESCRIPTION:In recent decades\, computers have dramatically changed our li
 ves and how we interact with the world. The majority of mental health rese
 arch\, however\, still relies on structured interviews and paper-based que
 stionnaires and scales to measure mental disorders. These are often ineffi
 cient\, lengthy\, time consuming\, and frequently require a clinical rater
 .\n\nThis talk will focus on the role of computers in the assessment of me
 ntal health. Special attention will be given to how we can use modern comp
 uter power to improve the efficacy of mental health assessment. The basic 
 concepts and benefits of computerized adaptive testing will be explained f
 ollowed by a demonstration of a simple online prototype platform for adapt
 ive assessment of selected mental health conditions.\n
