SUMMARY:A 3D cell model for developmental biology: Using gastruloids to st
udy early developmental events - Dr. Peter Baillie-Johnson (SCI)\, Dr Naom
i Moris (Genetics) and Dr David Turner (Genetics)

DESCRIPTION:Gastruloids are 3D aggregates of pluripotent stem cells that c
an generate polarised gene expression\, establish spatially organised germ
layers and undergo morphological elongation. In both their spatial and te
mporal progression\, they mimic features of early embryonic patterning and
can therefore be used to study early developmental processes such as gast
rulation and axial extension.\nIn this masterclass\, the speakers will\n
•discuss the background and principles of gastruloid systems\,\n•provi
de detailed explanation of the protocol\, troubleshooting steps and tips t
o ensure maximal reproducibility\,\n•discuss how gastruloids can be appl
ied to specific research questions.\nPizza and drinks will be provided!\n\
nAll (Postdocs\, students\, PIs\, technicians etc.) are welcome. Hope to s
ee you there!\n\nLife Sciences Masterclass Organising Committee\n\nNOTE:
Are you excited about your research? Involved in developing breakthrough t
echniques? Share it with us - present at the Life Sciences Masterclass! \n
\nWe still have a few remaining slots for this academic year.
