DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to the screening of two documenta
 ry films made by Tianqi Yu\, a graduate student at Cambridge\, followed by
  a discussion on the\nissues raised.\n\n*Photographing Shenzhen or Shenzhe
 n-transformation of Modern China* \n\nThis documentary has been awarded th
 e Grand Jury Prize and the Best Documentary at Screentest 2008-UK's nation
 al student film festival. It has also been broadcast by Discovery Network 
 Asia.\n\nThe film is a journey through time and space\, chronicling her fa
 ther\, an established Chinese social photographer\, Yu Haibo\, as for more
  than two decades he has been capturing the social transformation of Shenz
 hen\, the fast developing young city built up by migrants in three decades
  and among the first cities open to the world in modern China. It is also 
 a personal journey of her own as she has herself migrated to Shenzhen with
  her family at the age of 9.\n\n*Children of Tibet*\n\nThis is a personal 
 diary showing the filmmaker's point of view as a young Chinese on how the 
 changing education system affects the lives of a new generation of Tibetan
 s\, how their culture is changing under the\nadministration of the Chinese
  government\, and how Tibet is integrating into China and a wider internat
 ional community.\n\nWe would also like to dedicate this screening to the v
 ictims of the earthquake in China.\n\nDirections will be shown from the Po
 rter's lodge - Entrance on Sidgwick Avenue.
