DESCRIPTION:*Abstract:*\nA report on the findings of three empirical studi
 es of news coverage of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The initial research
  involved systematic examination of news outlet coverage of AI by mainstre
 am UK news outlets\, chosen to represent a variety of political leanings
 – the _Telegraph_\, _Mail Online_ (and the _Daily Mail_)\, the _Guardian
 _\, _HuffPost_\, the BBC and the UK edition of _Wired_ magazine. The main
 conclusion of the study is that media coverage of AI is "dominated":https:
 //www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/jan/13/dont-believe-the-hype-medi
 a-are-selling-us-an-ai-fantasy by the industry itself. \n\nThe presentatio
 n draws on the research to interrogate the current state of the public con
 versation about artificial intelligence in British news media. \n\n*About
