DESCRIPTION:Complexity in molecular biology comes in the form of large net
works of chemical reactions which govern the life and physics of cells at
the microscopic level. Despite even the identification of such complex che
mical circuitry is still a long-term goal in the life sciences\, we belie
ve that a deeper understanding of the network functionality\, modular orga
nization and working principles can be achieved only by having analytical
tools that are specifically thought for such kinds of mathematical models.
\n\nThe theory of Chemical Reaction Networks is a branch of mathematics w
hich tries to draw links between topology and dynamics and attempts at und
erstanding the qualitative behavior of reaction networks under large uncer
tainties on parameters values.\n\nWe will present some recent developments
by the speaker and his coworkers\, dealing with monotonicity\, convergenc
e and persistence in chemical reaction networks.
