DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will review recent advances that lead to the fi
 rst complete calculation of five-particle scattering amplitudes at two loo
 ps\, for amplitudes in N=4 super Yang-Mills and N=8 supergravity. In parti
 cular\, I will review the space of pentagon functions\, which covers all f
 unctions\nneeded for two-loop five-particle amplitudes in any gauge theory
 \, including QCD.
