 screening of ‘Persepolis’\, which tells the story of a young girl as s
 he comes of age against the backdrop of the Iranian Revolution. Based upon
  the autobiographical graphic novel written by Marjane Satrapi\, it was no
 minated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and won the Jury Pr
 ize at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Time Magazine called it ‘both harr
 owing and exuberant’. \n\nWe’re honoured to be welcoming Dr. Nina Ansa
 ry to open the event with a discussion of the filmmaker\, the film’s rec
 eption\, and its relevance to Iranian history and the women’s rights mov
 ement in Iran today.\n\nDr. Nina Ansary is an Iranian-American historian a
 nd author best known for her work on women’s equity in Iran\, whose rese
 arch has countered conventional assumptions of the progress of women in Ir
 an. Her multiple award-winning book\, Jewels of Allah: The Untold Story of
  Women in Iran\, ‘has been hailed as the seminal work to explode stereot
 ypes about Iranian women’ (Marie Claire).\n\nThe event will run from 7-9
 :30pm in Trinity College's Winstanley Lecture Theatre\, with drinks and ni
 bbles available from 6:30pm. To access the venue\, enter the doors on the 
 opposite side of the road from Trinity's Great Gate\, take a right and hea
 d up the stairs\, and follow the signs directing you to the 'Winstanley Le
 cture Hall'.
