DESCRIPTION:The world around us is full of chemical signals\, the invisibl
 e messengers that drives species\ninteractions\, behaviour\, intraspecies 
 communication and coevolution between species. As primarily\nvisual creatu
 res\, our research is often driven by signals we can perceive easily\, and
  we remain\nrelatively ignorant of the role that scent plays in these proc
 esses.\nIn this seminar our first speaker will\n• describe two major way
 s in which we can study these invisible messengers: analytical chemistry\n
 and electrophysiology and \,\n• explain how we can increase our understa
 nding of the invisible chemical world that surrounds us\nand its role in b
 ehaviour\, ecology\, and evolutionary processes.\nOur second speaker will\
 n• describe how interactions between species promote their diversificati
 on\,\n• talk about how we can unravel the chemical mediation of species 
 coevolution by using analytical\nchemistry\, feeding assays and gene expre
 ssion analyses.
