DESCRIPTION:The Labour4Clause4 campaign invites you to discuss why we need
to restore Clause IV and commit Labour once again to the fight for social
ism.\n\n“To secure for the workers by hand or by brain the full fruits o
f their industry and the most equitable distribution thereof that may be p
ossible upon the basis of the common ownership of the means of production\
, distribution and exchange\, and the best obtainable system of popular ad
ministration and control of each industry or service.” (pre-1995 constit
ution of the Labour Party – Clause 4\, part 4)\n\nClause IV was Labour
’s original commitment to end capitalism and bring about the socialist t
ransformation of society. It was adopted by the Labour Party in 1918\, but
removed by Tony Blair when he established New Labour.\n\nThere has never
been a better time to bring back Clause IV. Privatisation has proved an un
mitigated disaster. Support for nationalisation is on the rise. New Labour
is dead and the party has been transformed under Jeremy Corbyn’s leader
ship. It is time to bring back bold socialist policies.\n\nWe need to take
the economy out of the hands of the profiteers and place it in the hands
of working people.\n\nSpeakers: Ian Hodson - Bakers\, Food\, and Allied Wo
rkers Union (BFAWU) President\, Rob Sewell - Labour4Clause4 campaign co-or
dinator\, Steve Watson - Cambridge Local Momentum Chair\n\n
