SUMMARY:A brief introduction to Lorentzian Geometry\, general relativity
and black holes - Christoph Kehle (DPMMS)

DESCRIPTION:I will give a broad overview of the theory of general \nrelati
vity\, more precisely\, the study of Ricci-flat Lorentzian 4-manifolds. Af
ter introducing the dynamical formulation of general relativity\, I will d
iscuss the Schwarzschild and Kerr families as explicit examples of so-call
ed black hole solutions. Then\, I will present results and conjectures con
cerning the stability of the exterior region of black holes and end the ta
lk with a discussion about the structure of the interior of black hole spa
 cetimes.
