DESCRIPTION:The neural mechanisms that explain the speed and accuracy of p
erceptual decisions appear to apply more broadly to reasoning from symbols
\, and choices based on value or preference. I will describe recent findin
gs from human experiments (collaboration with Daphna Shohamy lab) in which
we compare value- and perceptual decision making in humans. The results i
mplicate a constructive role of episodic memory in value-based decisions.
