DESCRIPTION:Systems transmitting pulses have become in the past decades su
bject to an\nintense study in a variety of fields\, from neuroscience to\n
telecommunication to theoretical physics. Mathematically\, they are modele
d\nby nonlinear differential equations whose solutions possess properties\
nseen in linear systems\, such as a superposition principle or reflection
s\,\nunderscoring the need for the development of new tools in nonlinear\n
systems theory to handle them. Adopting the point of view of Hamiltonian\n
mechanics\, we will present a few results towards this ambitious goal. Ou
r\nresults are motivated by the development of models that support pulse\n
propagation in complex interconnected networks. These models respect\nene
rgy conservation\, come with a set of rules for interconnectability and\nm
ore faithfully reproduce the wave forms that are commonly seen in\nexperim
 ents.\n\n
