DESCRIPTION:Ptychography is a computational imaging method that\, like hol
ography\, solves the phase problem. However\, it has distinct advantages o
ver holography and other phase retrieval methods. The apparatus does not n
eed accurate calibration\, the data is significantly immune to partial coh
erence effects\, and three-dimensional effects can be removed from the ima
ge data. It works over all wavelengths (Terahertz\, IR\, visible light\, E
UV\, soft and hard X-rays\, and for high-energy electrons)\, and is theref
ore making significant inroads into the characterisation of materials at m
 any length scales.
