DESCRIPTION:\nTo help reduce the road congestion and pollution around Camb
 ridge and improve travel around the City and its environs\, a Metro has be
 en proposed.\n\nCoventry City Council is currently investing in the develo
 pment of an integrated Very Light Rail ‘Tram’ System which will have s
 huttle vehicles running on rails and powered by batteries.  The project is
  scheduled to deliver a first route in Coventry by the end of 2024.  WMG a
 t the University of Warwick has been contracted to deliver a novel shuttle
  vehicle and low cost track solution. The shuttle vehicle is being designe
 d by Transport Design International (TDI) with support from engineers and 
 researchers at WMG.  TDI have partnered with Coventry-based company RDM to
  manufacture the vehicle\, with a prototype scheduled for delivery in 2020
 .\n\nThe talk and presentation will be given by Dr Nick Mallinson\, a Char
 tered Electrical Engineer and Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketi
 ng.  Nick joined WMG in 2005 as Research Manager for the Warwick Innovativ
 e Manufacturing Research Centre (WIMRC)\, having previously been Vice-Pres
 ident for Sales & Marketing at Dynex Semiconductor Limited.  In January 20
 12 he was appointed Programme Manager for the newly established WMG centre
  High Value Manufacturing Catapult.  This centre is focussed on collaborat
 ive research with industrial partners in the area of low carbon mobility\,
  in particular the light-weighting of vehicles and improved energy storage
  and management solutions for electric and hybrid vehicles.  \n\nAll welco
