DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to invite you to Pembroke College's fourteent
 h William Pitt seminar entitled “Affording the Arts: The Cost of Culture
 ”. The seminar will be held on Friday 11 October 2019 and\, as last year
 \, will be held in the McGrath Theatre at St Catharine's College.\n \nDrin
 ks and dinner in Pembroke will follow the seminar.\n \nOur Chair this year
  is *Sir Nicholas Serota*\, Chair of Arts Council England since 2017\, and
  Director of Tate between 1988 and 2017. During his directorship\, Tate op
 ened Tate St Ives (1993) and Tate Modern (2000\, expanded in 2016)\, redef
 ining the Millbank building as Tate Britain (2000). Tate also broadened it
 s field of interest to include 20th century photography\, film\, performan
 ce and occasionally architecture\, as well as collecting from Latin Americ
 a\, Asia\, the Middle East and Africa.\n\nThe confirmed speakers are:\n \n
 *Moira Sinclair* - Chief Executive of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Chair
  of Clore Leadership\n\n*Henry Howard-Sneyd* - Sotheby's Chairman of Asian
  Art\, Europe and Americas\, and Lead Auctioneer globally in Asian Art\n\n
 *Sir Nicholas Hytner* - Theatre and Film Director and Film Producer\, Dire
 ctor of the Bridge Theatre in London\, previous head of the National Theat
 re.\n\nThe seminar will start with presentations from the speakers followe
 d by a panel discussion based on questions from the audience drawn from th
 e College’s alumni\, Corporate Partners and students as well as governme
 nt\, media\, and academic institutions.\n\nAn approximate schedule for the
