DESCRIPTION:In spite of the great efforts by many &nbsp\;studies\, there h
 ave been little progresses towards a general method of constructive factor
 izations to get exact solution of vector WH equations.&nbsp\;&nbsp\; The a
 im of&nbsp\; this talk&nbsp\; is the presentation of an alternative soluti
 on technique that is based to the reduction of the WH equations to&nbsp\; 
 Fredholm equations of second kind (Fredholm factorization). The presentati
 on will focus to the applications of the&nbsp\; Fredholm factorization&nbs
 p\; to&nbsp\; WH equations occurring in diffraction problem. In particular
  it &nbsp\;&nbsp\;is based on five steps:1) Deduction of the WH equations 
 of the problem\,2) Reduction of the WH equations to Fredholm integral equa
 tions (FIE) \,3) Solution of the Fredholm integral equations \, 4)Analytic
 al continuation of the numerical solution of the FIE\,5) Evaluation of the
  physical field components if present: reflected and refracted plane waves
 \, diffracted fields\, surface waves\, lateral waves\, leaky waves\, mode 
 excitations\, near field. A characteristic&nbsp\; example of problem will 
 be presented in the following talk.
